RES Fiber Optic Technician in Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Summary:

The fiber optic technician will perform a variety of tasks to support fiber optic installations, such as cable management, troubleshooting, fusion splicing, and testing and is capable of reading and understanding communications designs and matrices.

Requirements:

  • Testing & Troubleshooting Fiber Optic Networks

  • Cable Routing and Management

  • Cable Termination

  • Power Meter Testing

  • Network Documentation

  • Visual Fault Locator

  • Splicing Fiber Optic Cables

  • Fiber Optic Cable Installation

  • OTDR Testing

  • Fusion Splicing

  • Knowledge of reading and understanding communication diagrams

  • Knowledge of OPGW cable splicing and enclosure build-outs

  • Problem solving, communication, analytical skills, attention to detail, physical stamina

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.

  • Valid Driver's License required.

  • 6 months - 1 year of related experience required.

  • Fiber Optics Training program preferred.

  • Experience with OPGW preferred.

  • Strong understanding of fiber optics theory and applications required.

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment required.

Anticipated base salary range: $28.00 - $35.00

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.

Per Diem of $100.00 daily to cover lodging, meals and travel during rotation.

Occasionally: Carrying (16-30lbs), climbing, crouching, grasping, gripping, handling, kneeling, pinching, pulling (16-30lbs), pushing (16-30lbs), lifting (16-30lbs), reaching, and stooping is required.

Frequently: Standing and walking is required.

Constantly: Reading, vision, repetitive motions, and sitting is required.

Exposed to occasional extreme cold, extreme heat, humidity, wet, noise, hazards and vibration in the working environment.
